Pro-Bono Clients Page

During the month of September, following Labor Day weekend, in honor of the role of organized labor and its allies, Organizing 2.0 and dozens of amazing consultants will be offering expert-level pro-bono consulting services. If you belong to a union, labor organization, or grassroots organizing working for economic justice, we hope you will participate by requesting an hour of our consultant’s time.

The Basics:
Dozens of consultants (including staff at unions and nonprofits recognized for their expertise) are setting aside an hour of time during September, following the Labor Day weekend. Organizing 2.0 will match them with staff and leaders at labor organizations and grassroots organizations working for economic justice. After the week is over, we will describe the questions, the consulting assistance offered, and the clients in a report. (This report will omit details as relevant, to protect sensitive information, reputations, etc.)

Who Can Participate as a Pro-Bono Client?
Leaders and staff with any North American union, labor organization, or grassroots economic justice group. If you aren’t sure about your eligibility – fill out our request form anyway. If we can’t offer you a full hour of consulting, we will at least try and point you in the right direction for free resources available online.

Examples of Consulting Requests
One of the challenges of this project can be summed up this way: what can be delivered in one hour or less, while generating more value than what can be supplied with a Google search?

  • Review of your website, social media accounts, campaign plan or training agenda
  • Create a web or email template for your CMS or CRM
  • Help draft or review an RFP or plan for a web project, client side
  • Review work done by another consultant or firm for quality and price
  • Provide training (webinar, conference call, 1:1 coaching)
  • Creative brainstorm – look for relevant case studies and examples for your work
  • Assemble the right list of vendors for a future project
  • Discuss which CMS (Drupal, Joomla!, WordPress) is right for your next project
  • Discuss your use of databases (Salsa, Convio, CiviCRM, BSD) for organizing
  • Review copy, past or future
  • Specific, technical advice with your video or podcasting project
  • Tips for using mobile in your next campaign
  • Getting started in Google Apps

We’ll be looking at your applications for more examples of great one hour consulting topics.
