Saturday Opening Plenary: Protesting During COVID-19

Description: We may be distant, but we won’t be quiet: New forms of protest in a time of social distance. As COVID-19 continues to inflame all existing inequities, we need to confront power more than ever. Yet, opportunities to use our skills and experience to disrupt and protest are limited by our need to keep each other safe via social distancing. Our panelists will discuss creative ways they’ve protested since the US outbreak. From car rallies to rent strikes plus some hush-hush nightime public art plans, come get inspired to think of new ways to fight for ourselves and everyone who is vulnerable during a time when staying quiet is even less of an option than ever.

Organizing at Scale: Conversation With Top Organizers from the Bernie and Warren Campaigns

Description: Our two panelists worked for the Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren campaigns in comparable roles. Charles Lenchner, co-founder of both Ready for Warren and People for Bernie, will interview them both about how ‘distributed organizing’ has change campaigns, and the lessons we can learn from the 2020 primary so far.

This session will be appropriate for beginners and advanced attendees. Expect to understand more about the best in modern political campaigning, and a chance to hear some inside stories from this year’s campaign.
